The days were longer that time I visited New York, so sunset was taking a little longer than expected. There were benches long the walkway and I thought it was a perfect place to sit back and enjoy the view of the New York city skyline. I’m surprised there weren’t a lot more people here. I remember the time I was at Brooklyn Park, there were a lot more tourists there compared to this place. It seems like I have stumbled into a little known gem. It is surprising that there aren’t a lot of people since you get an unobstructed view of the skyline. The sun is also right behind the viewer so the buildings will get illuminated just before the sun set and I was hoping to be able to get photos of that golden moment.
Or maybe not. While I was waiting at the bench eyeing everyone walking past me. I came across this Filipino couple and chatted them up. It seems that they have been living here for quite some time. They weren’t that old but they are already sort of retired since their kids have already graduated so it means the parents have already graduated from their duties. They told me a bit about the area. Some info I already knew, like how it is much cheaper to buy a house in New Jersey compared to New York. After all the chatting, I discovered that I missed the golden hour! I saw the buildings no longer glowing in the sunset. I still took a few shots but I missed the best time. Oh well, I did have a nice conversation. When traveling alone, you appreciate things like that more.
