When my friends found out that I was going to New Jersey for business meetings, they told me that there is a Jollibee in Jersey City. Jollibee may appear to be a poor imitation of McDonald’s but it is the Philippines number one fast food chain and it beats McDonald’s hands down. I have been to a few in Asia as well. I most especially like their signature fried chicken called Chickenjoy. Unfortunately, I wasn’t sure how to get to Jersey City much less know how to get to Jollibee in Jersey City. I was searching for it when I found out that there was a branch in Queens, New York. My apartment in New York was actually in Queens and it is just a short hop away from the Jollibee.
I started dreaming of eating Chickenjoy once again as I head to the shop. The area seemed to be in a residential area. It was near the elevated train line so there wasn’t much light here. The shop itself looked like a Jollibee but it was small. It only had a single floor when the normal stores I would see can even have three floors. Rent is probably expensive here which is why they can only afford this place. After all, how can you earn a lot from selling fast food. I managed to find a seat even if I was by myself, and despite having a full restaurant. I had my two piece Chickenjoy, which seemed different from what I recall. It tasted less like what I remember. It has been two years since I last had some of this so maybe I was mistaken. I also had a banana jackfruit pie. Not exactly to my tastes but it will do. For what it offered, it was a bit expensive, and their serving was a bit small, however one can never put a price on nostalgia. If I get another chance to come here I will still eat here.
