I was recommended by my Chinese colleague to visit Flushing, New York for some authentic Chinese food. I was wary of trying just any Chinese food here in the United States since I think they would have very Americanized, so I thought it was best to get the information from a Chinese immigrant. When I got out of the train station, I was surprised to see how busy Flushing was. It was a like I was transported into a Chinese city. The number of Chinese signs here outnumber the number of English signs. There were naturally a lot of eating places here and the whole point of me coming here was to be able to eat authentic Chinese food. I loved the lunch I had in Joe’s Shanghai.
There were smaller streets in the center and I thought it was worth checking them out. There were a lot of Chinese snacks that I miss as well but I was already stuffed from lunch. I was trying to figure out how to get back to Manhattan to continue my exploration. The bus seems to be an option but I just went with the fastest and probably the easiest option and that is the train. It is not difficult to miss this station since it is a terminal station of the subway line. Now, I just need to understand the subway map to figure out how to get back.
