I was thinking of circling around back to the historical district to prepare to go back to New York city. There was no sense for me to go very far and get stuck there. I crossed a busy highway and ended up at a rather interesting street. It says South Street but I didn’t really think much of it. As I walked down the street, I noticed that this place seems to have a different kind of character. The buildings were brightly colored and there were murals on the walls. It seems that I have entered an alternative kind of place.
I had no idea I would be running into this place since I was only using dead reckoning to figure out where I was. This is pleasant surprise, since it turns out that South Street in Philadelphia is one if the more popular tourist attractions. I can see why. The different vibe of the place is quite refreshing and although it might give the appearance of being a rough neighborhood, I didn’t really see anything that would confirm that. The streets were still busy so I didn’t feel unsafe. You can think of this place as some sort of breeding ground of creativity. There were also shops and restaurants here. I think this would be an interesting place at night.
