The visit to the World Trade Center was somewhat a solemn one for me. It is hard not to think about the events which happened there but the memorial is also there to help everyone move forward. Slowly the area is being revived and one day it will be as vibrant as it was before. For now, my friend and I will continue out exploration on foot. I was mid July and it was the height of summer and needless to say, it was blazing hot that day. It was quite a shock to our systems since we come from a place where summer temperatures rarely go beyond 20 degrees Celsius. The current temperature was probably around 33 Celsius. With no clouds in sight, it was really hot.
It has been ages since I sweat this much. We made our way out of the World Trade Center and continued on to a park which was by the water. This apparently was Battery Park. The park hugs the shore. From here you can see that you can see the Statue of Liberty. We needed to negotiate the park first. There isn’t really anything too special about Battery Park, there were parts which were thankfully lined with trees, providing us a brief respite from the blazing sun. Only then did my friend start complaining how we were walking too much. I guess my friend wasn’t prepared for this amount of walking so we took our time to rest.
