With our bellies happy, my friend and I set out for some exploration. Apart from the the Empire State Building, New York City is also famous for another place. It used to be the site of the World Trade Center twin towers, until Petronas Twin Towers were building, it was the tallest building in the world. As everyone knows, the tragic events of the World Trade Center attacks in 9/11 led to the collapse of both towers. The effort to rebuild after the attacks was massive and the response swift. While the World Trade Center has not completely been rebuilt, large parts of the place has already been open to the public. I think it would be good to visit this place as well seeing as to how the events here have changed history.
My friend and I had a lot of itinerary to cover so instead of walking to the World Trade Center from Port Authority Bus Terminal, we took the metro. It would have been a long walk to the World Trade Center since it was at the very end of Manhattan Island. I would have probably been killed by my friend before we would even reach the World Trade Center on foot, so metro it is. The metro system of New York city is one of the most extensive in the world, It is also one of the most complicated ones which I ever used. Just because you know how to connect the dots doesn’t mean it will bring you there. Sometimes a train doesn’t pass by the platform you think it would pass through. Sometimes, the train is not even operational but it would be difficult for you to find out. Sometimes, you would have to go past a station for you to go back to it. Confusing enough? Welcome to the New York Subway.
