It is surprising how a bit of random walking can bring me to a lot of interesting places. New York city is teeming with a lot of these interesting places and it is very easy to just run into something. The layout of New York city is very easy to understand. It is an almost strict grid pattern and it would be easy to find streets here. Most of the streets and avenues here are numbered. To locate something you would do it much like a coordinate plane from our math days in school, and would be numbered avenue and numbered street. It is said that taxi drivers would know if you are not from there when you specify an address instead of a coordinate.
My next surprise was the Madison Square Garden. Now, the only thing I know about Madison Square Garden is that the New York Knicks professional basketball team play here. It wasn’t in the middle of the NBA season when I visited but I would have probably wanted to watch a Knicks game just because I was here. Outside the building was an electronic billboard which featured an NBA player who I didn’t recognize. I only recently found out about this player and how good he is. Other than NBA games various events are also held here like concerts. I tried going in the building but it was off limits to non paying visitors naturally. There didn’t seem to be an event that day as it was very quiet inside the building. Below the Madison Square Garden is Pennsylvania station or just Penn station which is a regional railway station, which explains where there are a lot of people dragging suitcases around.
