Grand Central Terminal Concourse in New York City

I have never been excited to visit a train station but I guess I would have to make an exception for one of the most famous train stations in the world. The Grand Central Terminal is the hub of New York City’s transport system. It connects to the New York subway and to the New York Railway system and serves almost a hundred million passengers daily. Owing to its function as a transportation hub, it is no wonder that the Grand Central Terminal is also one of the most visited tourist spots on earth. Thus, it is with a bit of excitement that I enter the Grand Central Terminal building.

What greeted me was something I was expecting but it still impresses me. The inside of the terminal building is quite classy probably owing to the design of the interiors. It is good since it will improve the ambiance of the station. It was almost like a hotel going in. The main concourse area was huge almost like a cavern. The closest thing I would think of would be a church but it looks distinctly different from a church. There were the columns but there weren’t any stained glass windows which traditional churches can be decorated with. The ceiling is likewise painted and it feels like there is a sky here even though it is indoors.

There are large electronic signs here tells which train is departing or arriving. Surprisingly, the train station wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be. Maybe it was because it was a weekend which might explain why foot traffic is relatively light. A large American flag is one display here ever since the attacks of 9/11. There is prominent security here as well, which is a comforting thought. There are passageways to the train platforms and it can get quite confusing here especially it is your first time here.
