When I decided to travel to New York City that day, I already had an idea of what to expect. After all who hasn’t seen or read about what to do in one of the greatest cities of the world. As I stepped out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal, I was not prepared for what is essentially and attack on all the senses. It was sensory overload in New York City. There I was standing outside the bus terminal and seeing very tall buildings, a lot of taxis and countless people. You need to see where I come from since my town only has the church as the tallest structure and houses hardly ever grow more than three stories high.
To switch from a rural community mindset to the big city mindset was very difficult. It has been years since I have been two a city comparable in size to New York City so I hope you would forgive me for being overwhelmed. Now, I know how it feels like to be a country bumpkin. I used to live in a place like this before but that was years back. It would take me a bit of time to get used to it again. For now, I would try to get my bearings. I grabbed a map from the bus terminal and of course, I would open in up and show everyone that I don’t know where I was. After all, I’m in New York City, what could possibly go wrong?
