I was happy to see the nice beach ath Ards Forest Park. The problem is that it didn’t seem to be easy to get to. Or at least the path that I took to get here didn’t seem to be easy. I took what seems to be a short cut to get down to the beach but it was trickier than it seemed. The path seemed to be used but it is not the well worn path that one might expect. The path was lined with plants some of them thorny so one needs to be very careful when negotiating the way here. The ground was also wet so it was slippery. It got scary at times as there wasn’t much to hold on to on the way down, you may try to grab on to some plants for safety.
I managed to get down to the beach without incident. There was a family playing in the beach but otherwise it was deserted. I find myself smiling at how I can have a beach all to myself. I was quietly strolling down the beach until I started to feel some raindrops falling. There wasn’t any shelter in sight, except perhaps an overhang at one end of the beach. I decided to call it quits today since I didn’t want to be caught in a storm in the middle of nowhere. It is amazing how quickly I managed to get back to the Ards Friary parking lot. I was happy to see such beautiful landscapes but I felt bad because of the bad weather. Perhaps another day would be a better time to come here. It is only thirty minutes away from the biggest town so it is not really a big problem to go.
