I liked the location of the Ards Friary. They built the friary right next to a peaceful bay. The waters here are very clear and they seem to be shallower allowing you to see to the bottom. The sand below the water also lends the water a greenish tinge and can look great in sunny weather. I decided to turn back and explore the rest of the Ards Friary. There is a path which follows the shore. The path is nicely shaded, not that I really needed it. This part is off limits to vehicles but it is wide enough for one. It is probably only available for emergency vehicles.
I could imagine that participants in the retreats held here can have their free time just walking along these paths. It is very nice and very conducive for reflection. While the path isn’t exactly by the water itself, it was done such that it would be very easy to reach the water. Along the way, I passed by a small shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary. There was a small statue and a single bench for visitors to reflect in. I thought that was a nice touch since you can’t have everything inside the church.
