The ruins of the Dunlewey Church of Ireland were a great place to visit. I thought that the church fit well with the gloomy weather that day and it gave the impression of a place which was desolate and remote. The church is no longer in active use apart from some tombs which are still there in the premises. For now, it has become one of the most photographed places in the county. I hope to be able to come back here when the weather is better. I think this place would also look good when there are blue skies. For now, I will leave this place alone. The car was parked just outside the church grounds so I was on my way again.
On the way out, I noticed that there was a small path leading somewhere. I had the impression that it brings visitors towards the mountains in the distance. When I got to the viewpoint earlier, I already noticed the uniquely shaped mountains and I wonder where they were. I didn’t know that when I drove down the Poisoned Glen, I would find the path which leads to the mountain. I tried walking towards the mountain but I didn’t really get very far since it seemed to be quite a distance. The ground was also uneven so I thought it would be prudent to just come back another time. I think I would need a proper excursion to visit that place. The mountains look special, and to me they looked like limestone mountains. I wonder if this is where the church got its marble, since they were supposedly mined locally. Looking at the map, it seemed that those mountains are part of the Glenveagh National Park, I could be wrong though.
