The cliffs at Downhill Demesne are certainly an amazing experience. I never get tired of scenery like this. The constant pounding of the sea has caused the cliff to erode to what they are now. It got so bad that the clff had to be reinforced to ensure that Mussenden Temple does not crash into the rocks below. The winds here are not something you can fix here, so you just have to live with it. If you get tired of the powerful winds here one can continue to visit the rest of the demesne. The temple is actually just a small part of the entire demesne, however I would say that it is one of the most interesting parts. Following the walls of the demesne near the temple, visitors can continue on walking down a path.
The path is one of several which were built in the demense. This makes the place a very good place for a nice walk. We are walking down this path in the hope that it will lead us back to the car. But this would be a good opportunity to see the rest of the estate. There is so much greenery here that you can think of this place as a park. It even has ruins and monuments to decorate the place. This is not a park though, but a real place which was owned and used by a real person.
