We managed to make it up to the top of the cliff overlooking the Downhill Strand where the Mussenden Temple was. The temple itself looks gorgeous and probably contributed a lot to the decision to make this site part of the Game of Thrones film locations. It is not difficult to imagine why when what I thought was just something computer generated was actually real. I guess you can’t blame me either. It is probably easier to generate something on a computer rather than actually building the thing. It is good to see that such mysterious places still exist even in a place like the United Kingdom.
It is not difficult to imagine why the temple was built here in the first place. The location is great to build a rest house for. The temple here is probably something like a gazebo but with windows owing to the nature of the weather here. I don’t think it is possible to relax here with the cold wind constantly blowing at you. I’m not sure if there is a way to go down to the beach from this spot as we had to drive down the road to the main entrance. I would like to think there is since it would be quite impractical to walk all the way back there.
