It was spring in Ireland but it was still chilly sometimes but we already needed to get out of our houses and explore. The trouble with this place is that it is very difficult to plan trips within the country. The weather changes so fast that what used to be a bright and sunny day is now a wet and miserable day. The weather reports can be treated as suggestions unless it says that it will rain. In which case it will be right 90% of the time. It was in these circumstances that we just decided to go out and explore parts of Donegal which we haven’t been to. In this case, we will be going to one of the more well known places here in this northwestern county of Ireland. We don’t need to travel that far, our maximum travel time would be an hour. We traveled from the town of Letterkenny to the village of Magheroarty up in northern Donegal.
The town isn’t really our final destination but this is as far as our car can go. What struck me was how much better the weather was. There was blue skies all around and it made me forget the miserable weather we just left. Magheroarty is a port village which is our jumping point to the island of Tory. There was a car park here where most people leave their transportation. Nearby is the port office. It is just a small house which has a lone counter, which seemed to be unmanned until you call out the staff. Needless to say, life here is very slow compared to the big town. We didn’t really have any options to our ferry ride and we needed to catch the 11:30 ferry.
