While Glencar Lake at County Leitrim is certainly very picturesque, we didn’t really come here for the lake, though it is certainly worth a visit. We came here visit Glencar Waterfalls. There are signs here pointing to the waterfalls and it is not easy to miss. The grounds leading to the waterfalls are open to the public, another thing I like about scenic point here in Ireland. I guess if people come here it brings tourists and spreads the money around. I won’t argue with that.
It is not really a long walk to the waterfalls but they still managed to make a pleasant little park along the way. This goes all the way up to the shaded area of the park where you can start to see the water from the waterfalls. There is a small set of cascades here but it is not easy to photograph as it is too dark. I would have loved to do a long exposure for the falls but I didn’t have a tripod with me. It was kind of stupid of me not to bring one. Fortunately, Glencar Waterfalls is close enough for me to visit again the next time I need to bring someone around.
