Knocknarea is just one of the interesting features which we saw on our way back to county Donegal. For now, our goal is to reach the village of Strandhill, which is on the Atlantic coast of Ireland in county Sligo. We have already see how spectacular the coasts of Ireland can be so we were kind of ready for this. Strandhill is village which is known for its waves. True enough, when we got there, there were powerful winds which were whipping up the waves. Sometimes is was downright scary how powerful the waves are.
It is not really surprising to know that this place it famous for surfing. The beach here is protected by rocks so as to prevent any further erosion. I’m not too fond of swimming, let along surfing so I can’t really appreciate the potential for surfing of this place. It is exhilarating to be feel the wind blow on you and until you almost get knocked down. No wonder the place seems to be windswept. I can’t imagine how it is to live here, maybe it is just that windy today.
