After the row of houses at the basilica ground in Knock, we noticed a building at the end of the road. It looked like a restaurant but it seemed to be more than that. I was wondering why we didn’t notice this place before but it was hidden from the road. This was actually the Knock Museum. From the looks of it, it doesn’t seem to be a very large museum. There is a small entrance fee though. I was funny since there didn’t seem to be anyone minding the museum. When we got there, the lights were still turned off. We could have walked right in the museum but decided against it and waited until there was someone there.
As you might expect, the museum is a collection of items and a showcase of the events at Knock. There were numerous items which dated from that period. Seeing these were quite interesting since these you can get a glimpse of life back then. There were also reproductions of houses back then and I can’t really say that they were that different back then. Of course there is a reproduction of the scene at knock including a place to pray. At the end of the museum was a guest book but more importantly there was a collection of crutches which were discarded by people who were miraculously cured by the intercession of Our Lady of Knock. It is very easy to dismiss such claims but if you see the number of crutches that were discarded, even the most hardened unbeliever would have to think twice.
