Apart from a little sight seeing, there wasn’t much to see on Carrick-a-Rede island. We made our way back across the bridge where the guard manning the gate seemed to be in a hurry. He asked if someone was still there. It seems that he was already closing shop and it is his job to make sure that no one is left on the island when it closes. Camping on the island is not allowed, so he crossed the bridge and had to inspect the island just to make sure no one is left there. On the way back, I noticed another trail which we didn’t take and that one takes visitors higher, I wasn’t really sure what we can see there but having seen the trails at the Giant’s Causeway, it was probably going to be nice. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for that. We walked back to the car park and head back to town.
One the way back home, we passed by the town of Ballintoy and decided to have our dinner there. We wanted to make the most of the outing so we might as well go for it. We ended up at the Fullerton Arms Restaurant, which seems to be a well known place here. The car park was full which was a good sign. The restaurant seemed to be quite nice and the staff was very friendly. We decided to go for some fish, which I thought has got to be good since this place is near the sea. The little extra cost was ok once in a while. My friend had salmon which was supposed to be a specialty in Carrick-a-Rede back then when there were still a lot of salmon passing through. My first was probably something I have never had before. It was okay though I thought the portions were quite good. The salmon looked good as well with a large slice of salmon on top of greens. I would have preferred rice but once in a while it is nice to have these kinds of food.
