The trail from the Grand Causeway ends here. It brings us from the Grand Causeway along the cliffs which front the sea to a viewing desk to see Lacada Point. There was actually a trail which continues on but one look at the trail reveals why it is no longer in use. Parts of the trail have collapsed and are obviously unsafe. The funny thing is, the more trails like this are made, the more collapses would happen. So it was decided that the trail will just be closed. This part of the Giant’s Causeway is called the Amphitheater obviously because of its shape. I have been to an number of places which are similarly named and they are all alike. It is always in the shape of half a bowl be it rice terraces or a cliff face like this one.
The amphitheater was quite impressive but it is quite difficult to capture it with a camera even with my wide angle lens. At the end of the trail, you can see the old trail running along the amphitheater. I was observing the trail and I noticed that there was someone coming back from the trail. The person was still on the opposite side of the amphitheater and was not easy to see. At that point, I happen to run into a Hungarian who I knew. He seems to be going on a tour as well, it was then I noticed that his partner didn’t seem to be there. He told me that his partner was that person walking on the forbidden trail. There were a few iffy part especially the part which is near the end of our trail. There was a recent rockslide there and it made the trail unsafe. She still managed to come back to our trail in one piece, after scrambling a bit on the rock slide portion. The said the it was perfectly safe, though I would not take her word for it.
