Other than the castle itself. There are a few more places which you can spend a few minutes at here in Dunluce Castle. If you walk down the path to the foot of the castle, you can get close to the water. Not really right next to it though. There is a flight of stairs which takes you all the way to the bottom and you can get a good look of Dunluce Caste from the bottom. This was probably how most people saw Dunluce Castle. Back then there was a settlement in this area but it seems a lot of it has disappeared. It was only recently discovered that there was a town within the area of the castle. It is mostly the case where castles are built around towns, and Dunluce doesn’t seem to be an exception.
Following the path you will come across the bridge used to cross into the castle. There now an arch at the top of the stairs which gives you a good view of the coastline. The lookout point isn’t really very big as there was only space for two people to stand comfortably. One needs to be careful here as you might fall into the rocks below. On the way back to the left you will see a small “cave” which actually leads to the water. The “cave” must have been carved out naturally through centuries of erosion. There is a big warning sign there not to go to the water though. There are no life guards here so if you choose to ignore the sign you might get swept away by the waves.
