The ladies finally had their fill of shopping. They were hoping to find some great bargain on Italian or European brand name goods but you can’t really find them. It was quite interesting to see all these big name brand shops on the street where normally I would have seen them in a high end shopping mall. Most of the customers were tourists who were likewise trying to find a great deal. I wasn’t really interested in things like that so I was just there sitting in the shop waiting for them to finish, yes, much like a husband or a boyfriend. Although they didn’t really go back empty handed, they didn’t get to buy a lot either as it was really as cheap as they would have wanted.
It was time for dinner and we went back to the area of our apartment. I don’t really know why we keep heading back here perhaps it was just convenient that it was a short distance to the apartment. It would be our last night together as I would be leaving before they do the next day. We wanted to eat somewhere a bit more special. We ended up at a place called Ristarante Raf. This looks more like a fusion restaurant but I guess I don’t really mind anymore. I got one which was supposedly their specialty, it is steak in Bolero sauce. The sauce is reputedly the envy of Rome but that was according to the waiter. It wasn’t really that bad either. Bolero apparently in a kind of red wine and here they use the bolero as a component of the sauce. One thing I was warned about when visiting Europe is that their definitions of doneness in steaks will be different from ours. I still went for medium and I thought it turned out quite well.
My friends went for what I think was grilled pork, I wasn’t really sure anymore, but she didn’t have any complaints about it. While another one had pasta. She thinks that the food he were such huge portions that she won’t be able to finish them unlike regular pasta. I thought the pasta wasn’t really anything special, although we had one more serving of mushroom pizza. To top it all off, we had a bottle of house wine. Although I didn’t think this place was distinctly Italian, the food was quite nice and portions were good. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, or maybe they were just Italian.
