Well, it seems like we finally got tired for walking around Rome. It has been a long day and the fact that the sun hasn’t set yet confused use since we were already hungry. In fact, it was actually time for dinner. We were too used to use the sun as our cue for time. Living in the tropics you sort of get used to the almost fixed time for sunrise and sunset. Not so in the other latitudes. One good thing about this is that we actually have a lot more time to do our exploration since the day is longer, however if you are after some night shots, you might have to wait a little longer.

We were going around the Campo di Fiori to hopefully find someplace to have our dinner. Actually, for me, any restaurant should be as good as the next since we weren’t really experts in Italian food. Our only clue would be that they might have more customers than others. It is probably a totally different thing if all of the customers were tourists, in which case all bets are off. We settled on a place called Ristorante La Carbonara. I don’t know if you can get any more Italian than that. We managed to get a seat beside the heater, good for my friend since she was still cold.

Okay, even though it had carbonara in its name, I didn’t order any carbonara. I was still sticking to my no pasta promise and decided to splurge a little. I ordered some roasted suckling pig. I has been a while since I had roasted suckling pig. I was delighted that this place had it. Perhaps I didn’t have very high expectations for this place that I found the dish to be incredibly good. The meat was very tender and the skin was how I always wanted my roast pig to be, thin and crispy. My friends were all looking at my order, not to mention listening to me eat the thin and crispy skin and were regretting not having it. I wasn’t sure how Italian this dish really is but I liked it a lot. Ristorante La Carbonara also has an attached bakery. They were promoting their bread by serving us their bread for our appetizers. If you happen to be in the Campo di Fiori area, it might be worthwhile to visit this place.
