It was a rather exhausting day so far, we have explored Saint Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums all in one day. I don’t think this is recommended as too much of a good thing isn’t very nice either as it tends to dull your sense of wonder. It might be good to take breaks every so often so as to better appreciate the priceless work of art that is right in front of you. While we were deciding on what to do, we were walking away from the Vatican Museum, along the way we noticed a store which seems to have a large number of people queuing outside. What could it be?
It was a gelateria, one of those shops which specializes in making gelato. It seems this one was a well known one as there are a lot of people queuing up outside. It is said it may rival the nearby Vatican Museum in terms of queue length. Maybe not, but we queued up anyway. The Old Bridge Gelateria seems to have made a name for itself in gelato, so we needed to try it. I don’t think I even had a lot of gelati in my life but this has got to be the best one I had so far. I got a lot of the fruitier flavored ones and it seems like they made gelato out of the raw fruit. The taste and texture is unlike ice cream. You can tell that the quality is there and that it is no mere flavoring that they used. Each individual flavor is distinct as we took turns trying out the different flavors we ordered. Maybe I would be having more gelato while here in Rome.
