Colorful Houses in Burano Island
It was a bit unfortunate that the sky was overcast that day. The previous day was much better with great sunshine and all. It is a pity because the colorful houses here in Burano Island would have really stood out on a bright and sunny day. I remember seeing one of those demo videos they show on big screen televisions for sale and there was this place which featured very colorful houses, obviously to sell the great color reproduction of the television. I remember being amazed at that place although I didn’t know where it was. Little did I know that I would actually get here myself. It wasn’t the bright and sunny that was in the demo video but the houses were still colorful.
A Look Out to the Venetian Lagoon
From what I have heard, the colors of the houses have to be planned. If you owned a house here you cannot just paint the house any color you wish. It needs to go through approval, probably to avoid ugly colors or the same colors on adjacent houses. The island itself was small but charming. It can be easily explored in an afternoon. I actually wanted to have dinner here since it seemed to be great place to spend the rest of the evening. Unfortunately, my friends had other plans.
