If the island of Murano is famous for its glass making, the nearby island of Burano, is famous for something totally different. It is not as industrialized as glass making but it is just as beautiful. The lace making of Burano is quite well known. If you saw a lot of shops in Murano selling Murano glass ware, then you would see a lot of shops in Burano selling laces. These can be anything from a simple figure of a dancer to curtains to table top covers. A closer look at the laces and you can see how well made these things are.
Most of the laces are made with white string and it doesn’t look bad at all. I thought the table top covers looked great but I don’t want to be carrying stuff like that back home. It is quite amazing to see all these patterns and see that these are not the mass produced type of stuff you see elsewhere. Any other manufacturer could probably just print something that looks like it but it won’t be the same. If you have the cash to spare, I would recommend to buy some of these.
