Glass Goblet at the Murano Glass Museum

Looking at the Murano Glass Museum didn’t really bring any surprises. Places like these are usually quite standard that they show the history of the place and then showcase the specialty of the place. As you already know, Murano is famous all over the world for its glass making. This industry has been well known for quite some time, I didn’t really know how long it was there but I was surprised to find out that the museum itself was already set up in the 1860’s. You would usually have museums set up in a much later period but this really surprised me. As you might expect, this museum specializes in showcasing Murano’s expertise in glass making. We have already gone through a few shops which sell Murano glassware and I already had an idea of what to expect.

The Murano Glass Museum has two stories of products of Murano. The glass exhibits are well protected for obvious reasons. I was under the impression that it was not okay to take photographs but I saw people snapping away right in front of the museum staff, so I supposed it was actually okay. Most of the exhibits were protected in glass so there wasn’t really any danger of knocking them over. There were a lot of exhibits which feature Murano glass vases, bowls and figures. Even the chandelier is Murano glass. The museum gives you an insight on the skill and refinement of Murano glass making. Who knows I might find myself buying something back.
