Probably the one thing which Murano is most famous for is their mastery of glass making. If you have gone shopping for glass figures, you might have undoubtedly seen Murano glass. You can probably say that Murano started this whole glass making business. Murano island and Venice itself has a lot of these Murano glass shops. I guess, we will be visiting a lot of them along the way, maybe it is cheaper to get it from the source? But first we will have to explore one of the important places to visit here in Murano – the Murano Glass Museum. The Murano Glass Museum or the Museo del Vetro is just nearby where we landed. It was just as well so we can get over it quickly. There is a small entrance fee for the museum but I though that it was okay.
The museum isn’t really very big. It is probably an old house which was converted into a museum. However, the museum itself is quite modern. I found out later that the museum wasn’t actually 100% accessible to the public. There were parts of the museum which were under renovation and I don’t know when they will finish. I just hoped that we were given a discount since we can’t see all of the museum. Anyway, the ground floor was more for history and of course a shop. Most of the interesting stuff is upstairs.
