With dinner over and done with, we didn’t really know what to do. I was hoping to be able to take night shots of Venice since it seemed to be very lovely here. Besides, it would seem that the number of tourists out has dropped considerably. Maybe they were eating or resting I don’t really know, the fact is they are no longer out and about. It wasn’t raining so it should be good for a walk. I decided to back to the major sites to take night photos of them. It was a pity that I didn’t get to take them while the sun was going down, that would have been the best time to do it. Maybe during my honeymoon. Unfortunately, my friends were too tired to head back there. Only one of them was still game enough to go back, she was also regretting that we did not take photos of Paris at night. We will not let this chance pass by again.
We head back in the general direction of the Saint Mark’s Basilica. It was easy enough to get back there, there were a lot of signs, less distractions and finally, less people. The small number of people concerned me, I don’t know about the safety of Venice at night but I guess as long as we kept moving it should be okay. We found our way to the Rialto Bridge and as expected, there was a spotlight focused on it. The shops on the bridge were already closed and there was a single light open at the top of the bridge. It was very peaceful there and the mood is very different at night. It was very quiet even along the banks of the canal where it was heaving with activity during the day, you could say that the difference here was night and day. There were boats moving under the bridge, but I think I would prefer a boat ride where I can see where we were going. The water seems to be awfully high that time but that didn’t seem to stop visitors from having dinner beside the swollen canal, hopefully it doesn’t get any worse.
