I could never get tired of looking at the Grand Canal in Venice. The beauty of the island is really something else. Much of the medieval architecture has been preserved here in the town and it makes for a very attractive city. The Grand Canal is probably one of the biggest attractions of the town as a great many photos have been taken along its shores. We were making our way back to the hostel but we were having trouble finding our way. There are a lot of signs but they were in Italian. Our lead was following the sign which points to the Piazzale Roma, not knowing what it was. Not that I do myself. The alternate sign was the Ferrovia, I thought it was familiar but didn’t really pay too much attention to it until we started to get lost.
Getting lost in Venice is actually a good thing since you get to see a lot of stuff you wouldn’t normally see, however if you are hungry it is not a good thing. The Piazzale Roma turned out to be quite far from the train station and thus our hostel. It was then that I realized what Ferrovia actually meant, ferro is iron, via is way or road, you get railroad, it was the railway station. It was a bit too late for my brilliant deduction as we were already making our way along the Grand Canal. It was actually not bad, since we got to get another look at the Grand Canal. The sun was starting to set, and the light was getting good for photos, hopefully, I would get more.
