Churches in Venice

One of the Churches in Venice

I used to imagine the Italy is almost synonymous to Catholicism being the home of the Vatican and all. So there would be churches practically everywhere. Venice is no exception. We were going around the city of Venice and admiring the houses and canals. It is very interesting to see this kind of place and it is a wonder that it still exists in this day and age. Tourism does have its benefits as it helps keep things the were they were, at least the more important aspects of the place. With very little to no land reclamation, people build on top of the water.

There are places which is solid ground, it is an island afterall. Naturally, these places would be the first to be occupied. Where villages sprung up, churches were ultimately built as well. I don’t think there can be too many very large churches here given that land is very scarce. However, the church at that time was very powerful and was able to construct all these churches. We managed to pass by some of these smaller ones. We would probably be heading off to the larger ones later in the day. I was just so glad that it was such a beautiful day.
