We finally made it to Venice. The train from Paris to Venice terminates at the Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station. It was a grand entrance into the island city of Venice. From the mainland the train crossed a bridge across the sea to the island of Venice. We couldn’t really see the island that much until we were almost there. We promptly got out of the station and was welcomed by the Grand Canal. There was a plaza right in front of the train station and it was full of people. I knew Venice was famous but I didn’t really expect that there would be that many people here. Maybe it is because the trains just arrived, I wonder.
Either way, it seems that the railway station is right in the middle of everything. So if you want to go gondola touring, there is a station right in front of the train station. It is probably the easiest landmark to remember in this area. My understanding is that our hostel would also be nearby. We started to go to the hostel when our friend wanted to check out the information counter. I wasn’t really sure what questions needed to be asked here when everything is out there. I have a vague idea of what places we need to visit here and I’m sure we would have time for those.
