View from the Top of the Eiffel Tower

Champ de Mars from the Eiffel Tower

This is the highest point in all of Paris. Arguably also the highest point of any visit to Paris. Sure, it is touristy, but everyone needs to come here at least once. Misty or not, we reached the top of the Eiffel Tower and were met by like-minded tourists. Everyone was just happy to keep snapping away even if the visibility wasn’t that good. The wind was strong as well. However, considering how high we were, I didn’t even feel the tower moving. Very tall structures tend to sway against the wind sometimes making people on top violently ill. However, it seems that the Eiffel Tower doesn’t suffer from this problem. A huge part of this was probably due to the hollow nature of the tower. The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower and it is not solid. This means most of the wind just passes through the tower.

However, this doesn’t mean that there was no thought given in designing the tower for wind resistance. Gustave Eiffel managed to design the tower with no usage of modern engineering methods. As a testament to the effectiveness of the design, the tower sways only a few centimeters in the wind. So this means no vomiting on top of the tower. You can just enjoy the view here, arguably the best view in all of Paris. I argee that the view is stupendous. The place here is much smaller than the second level. You don’t really have to linger here that long. The winds up here will ensure that. In the meantime, enjoy the best 360 degree view of Paris.
