Exploring the Caesar’s Tower in the medieval town of Provins was a surprisingly interesting experience. I was of the impression that we will just go up and come down. I didn’t know that there was stuff to see in the tower itself. The Caesar’s Tower isn’t really very big so it was natural to expect that there won’t much inside. True enough the second level was empty but I think the best part was getting to see the roof. This is a very good example of medieval military architecture and it is so important that this place was added to the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Going down the tower, people have to go down a different set of stairs. It is because the stairs are narrow that you can only accommodate only on direction at a time. You might even have people panicking because of the narrowness of the stairs that they might turn back. I didn’t see this happen though but it is not surprising if it did. The tower was a marvel to look at from the outside. I like it that it is not too high that it would be too unwieldy to take photos of. It would be nice to see if there was another high place where I could take photos from, but there doesn’t seem to be such a place here.
