We had a wonderful meal at the Le Petit Ecu Restaurant. Despite our problems communicating we somehow managed to order and enjoy our food the way we want them done. While Provins isn’t exactly bursting with restaurants, the ones in town are most probably more for tourists. The new town probably has some options as well but we didn’t go there. The sky has finally brightened up a lot and it was better for photo taking now. I was glad that there weren’t a lot of visitors here. It really seems that Provins in a bit under the tourist radar, and it suits me just fine. I don’t think would be able to enjoy a small town like this if it was overflowing with tourists. I think I have experienced that elsewhere in Asia and it was definitely not a pleasant experience.
The square itself wasn’t very striking. It was a dusty square lined with benches all around. There was a crucifix on one end of the square. Beside it was a well, which was fitted with a cage on top, probably to keep people from falling in. More interestingly there was a small water fountain, not the type which spurts water but this was more like a faucet type. I think this water should be potable, as it is in Spain. I still haven’t tried drinking from these contraptions. I don’t want to get a stomach ache on this trip because I drank something which is not clean.
