When you are on the banks of the River Seine, one think you would notice apart from the beautiful buildings on its banks are the numerous ferries which ply the river. The River Seine can be considered the cradle of Paris. Rivers are normally where cities are founded and Paris is no exception. The River Seine isn’t particularly wide but it is enough to accommodate ferries passing in both directions. The banks of the Seine, especially near the Eiffel Tower, have a few river tour companies with large ferries parked on the banks. I don’t really know which one to choose as they all pass by the same places, I think. I’m sure there will be others who will promise more spots to see. If you ask me, I would rather walk but my companions seems to want to try the boat ride. It is one of the more romantic activities you can do here but you will be taking the ferry with a lot of other people. I’m not sure how romantic that can be.
My companions chose a river tour company, I don’t really know what criteria they based on to choose this company. There was a queue for the next trip and but you need to be sure you are on the correct queue. There are a few companies here so you might need to check with the staff. We got a fairly large ferry which can probably fit a hundred or more people. It is a two level ferry, but most people would be on the top level where the view is so much better. I would have wanted to sit on the very front of the boat but those seats we already taken. We took the right side, or starboard side, of the ferry. I can’t say I wasn’t excited about this, it is extremely touristy, but I think this is a nice and fun way of exploring Paris.
