The Petit Trianon is build just a short distance from the Grand Trianon. Much like the Grand Trianon is a rest house for the stressed out king, the Petit Trianon is the rest house for a queen, Queen Marie Antoinette in particular. This “small Trianon” is purposely built for her and only she has access to this place. She doesn’t entertain guests here and the staff seem to leave her alone as well. It would be handy to have the staff look over you as well. True to its name, the Petit Trianon is much smaller than the Grand Trianon. It is a very compact building just enough for an antisocial queen to stay in.
The interiors of the Petit Trianon were very similar to the Grand Trianon. They weren’t over the top like the main palace but it was still very nicely done. Again, it was like a mansion. Paintings adorned the common areas and the windows made sure that there was enough light. The small-ness of the Petit Trianon can be felt here as there were a lot of tourists filtering in to this small building. Passing by the bedroom would give you how small this place is since people would be squeezed when going through the room. The bedroom only has a small aisle available for visitors as most of the room was off limits. You can still see it though.
