Lovely Rooms at the Grant Trianon at the Palace of Versailles
Just walking through the Grand Trianon makes it feel like walking through someone’s house. Actually, it is more than just a house, it is a palace, though from the different in scale of the Grand Trianon and the main chateau, you wouldn’t think that this was a palace. This was more like a rest house of the king to “get away” from the stress of ruling the kingdom. It is quite stifling if you have to always “behave like a king”, all the formality can be very tiring after all. The Grand Trianon is a place for the king to get away from all that. He would host guests there and have meals there with them. The Grand Trianon was the favorite place for some of his guests. At some point, he even had a secret wife there.

The Grand Trianon looks more like a mansion than a palace. And I think it is a nice change. I would rather live in a place like this rather than the over the top rooms of the main chateau. The rooms of the Grand Trianon at nice and I think it was just the right kind of nice that it isn’t like you are living in a museum. There are large paintings in the rooms but the are very well thought out. In contrast to the rooms of the main chateau, the ceilings of the Grand Trianon rooms were free of paintings and designs. I think I understand why the king likes it here.
