We came from the Eiffel Tower and were going to the metro station to go to our choice for dinner. If you look at the map of the Paris Metro system, you would immediately think spaghetti and it is crazy complex. However, there is method in the madness and you can just trace the colors of the rail lines to figure out where you are going. However, sometimes, it is not enough. We ended up taking the wrong train line and had to retrace our steps to go back to the where we started. It was quite fun but at the same frustrating. It seems that the Paris metro is also integrated with the railway network. The latter one would bring you to the suburbs, while the metro will bring you around the city.
We even got to ride one of those double decker trains. I have never seen a double decker train before and I was quite excited. It is good that they build large trains to better handle high volumes. Another difference I see is that the Paris trains have a lot of seats. Even for the metro trains, they have seats. In Asia, you will only see seats along the sides of the train. It is more comfortable with seats though it is not very space efficient. Getting in and out of the seats is not very easy as well, especially if you need to go through your seatmate just to get out.
