Crossing the River Seine

A Look at the River Seine

A Look at the River Seine

The Trocadero Gardens and the Eiffel Tower are separated by a river which is the most well known in France and possibly Europe – the River Seine. Even when I was a kid I already heard about this place and how important it was to Paris. You can probably say that Paris owes its existence to the River Seine as it was along this river that the city of Paris sprung up. A lot of important structures have been built along the banks of the River Seine that it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site under the name Paris, Banks of the Seine. There is a short bridge to cross the river and this is also open to vehicular traffic. I was a bit surprised to know this since I was already at a major tourist destination. I would have expected it to be a bit more pedestrian friendly.

Tour Boats Along the River Seine

Tour Boats Along the River Seine

The River Seine itself is a tourist attraction by itself and there are tours to explore parts of the river. You can see this by the presence of numerous tour boats along the banks of the river. It is quite convenient since you can explore the River Seine after you come down from the top of Eiffel Tower. We will be exploring the Eiffel Tower today but we will have some time to go tour the river another day.
