After wandering about the better part of this area, we discovered that we had been going the wrong direction. I was amused how badly my friend was reading the map, I guess it was time to make sure that we are going in the correct direction. My legs are already tired and I am hungry. I just wanted to go there and get it over with. We ended up going back to the major street which we came from. It turned out that our destination wasn’t that far from Casa Batlló as it was just a few blocks down the street. I was dumbfounded at how far we needed to go to find that place. Anyway, we finally arrived at Casa Milà which is another one of Antoni Gaudí’s most significant works.
As it turned out, the Casa Milà is an even bigger disappointment that the Casa Batlló. This time, the entire facade of Casa Milà was covered up by an advertisement. I know that this is probably because it is still being restored behind the scenes, but to go all the way here and not see the building was still very disappointing for me. The first disappointment was Casa Batlló, where we couldn’t get in because the queue was long. Now, Casa Milà was unavailable due to renovations. I think it is still possible to go in, but we didn’t bother. We had a peek inside the building through the souvenir shop but that was all. Casa Milà was one of Gaudí last works and based on photos, it does seem to be typical of him. The building has a feeling that it is a fairy tale building but it is actually commissioned for a married couple. Along these prestigious street, it is indeed one of the most important buildings.
