The Rambla Vella was a pleasant pedestrian street. The center island of the avenue is dedicated to pedestrians and there are numerous benches along the street. This makes for great people watching. It is a beautiful day and people are out. However, people are not out shopping. Curiously, here, the shops seem to be closed on weekends. I was suspecting that it is a European thing and maybe people aren’t allowed to work on weekends. I think I have read articles about that. European labor standards are much higher. This can be a good thing if you are an employee. But not as nice if you are just a consumer since not all the shops will be open on weekends.
We reached the end of the Rambla Vella and there as a small roundabout here. There was a statue of someone there but I didn’t pay attention since I was after the what was behind the roundabout. There were quite a lot of people hanging out here and I think I know why. There is a nice view of the sea from here. I didn’t realize how high we were since we just came from the Rambla Vella. I guess, the Rambla Vella just ends right there at the edge of the small elevation here. However, it was good enough to see sweeping views of the sea.
