We were finally on our way out of Tarragona. We have explored a quite a bit of Tarragona, most especially the ancient city of Tarraco. It seems we have wandered quite far from where we came from so it was time to bring out the map. The street we were on didn’t seem to be terribly interesting. It was a major street which leads somewhere. Somehow we ended up in one of the major pedestrian streets of Tarragona. This was the Rambla Vella. It seems that major streets here in Spain have Rambla in their name. This was the one for Tarragona. Rambla apparently, means avenue in Catalan. We decided to walk down this street to head back to the railway station.
Although Rambla Vella was quite large. It didn’t seem to be very busy. There is a rather large island in the middle of the avenue where people can sit. I thought it was quite attractive. There were a few shops along this stretch but I didn’t see any that was interesting. There were a few old style cafes which would probably be nice at night. We spent a bit of time to rest here since we weren’t in a hurry to get back. Our train back doesn’t leave yet so it is best to soak in some Tarragona air while we were at it.
