I was delighted by the beautiful interiors of the Casa Canals. It was like someone’s mansion, and it probably is. The Casa Canals used to be owned by the Canals family up until fairly recently when it was bought by government of Catalonia and then returned to Tarragona. It is now a museum where people can visit and admire the houses of the rich back then. Exploring the house is quite straightforward. There will be a guide here to tell you all about the place. One tip is to just follow the carpet and you can’t go wrong. The bedroom as well as the dining room is roped off but you can still see most of it. Unsurprisingly, the designs of the rooms are very European and quite different from the designs I have seen elsewhere.
Somehow heating is already present here but I do not know if it was a later addition. I didn’t notice any fireplaces here either. For a rich family as the Canals, they most probably have been able to afford such luxury as heating. Another thing I noticed here was how bright the rooms are. The windows here are quite big and the rooms make the most of the available light. For example, the bedroom is facing the windows. The dining room is also by the window for a nice cup of tea. Like most European mansions and palaces, the walls are adorned with beautiful paintings.
