I think my friends finally got tired of visiting church after church, as we quickly got out of the Santa Maria de Montserrat Basilica. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to visit the monastery itself, which is a shame, since we spent too much time to visit the image of the Virgin of Montserrat. I was probably the only one happy about this. Instead we decided to just go around the area to see what we can see. I remembered that we were on top of a mountain so I was hoping to get beautiful mountain top scenery from Montserrat. We walked all the way to the parking lot where the buses are and found spots to take photos here.
The air was surprisingly clear and we can see all the way down. Although the mountains here weren’t as tall as Montserrat itself, it does give us a good idea of what the landscape it like below. What I noticed that there were horizontal layers of rock. I can only assume that this is something that was exposed over the years of erosion. From this perch, you can see quite far into the distance. The wind is cold here so I couldn’t really stay that long here. We needed to move to other viewpoints.
