I was shivering from the cold wind at the top of Montserrat, so much, that I almost forgot to see how beautiful this place is. The characteristic mountain here provides a dramatic backdrop to the buildings here. Again, the buildings here are earth colored which gives the impression that this place was carved out of rock. Some of the buildings here look quite brand new, and it is difficult to tell which ones are original and which ones aren’t. As you might expect of a place this popular, there are hotels and restaurants on top, this doesn’t disappoint me anymore as I think this comes part and parcel of being a tourist attraction.
They even have some sort of tourist train where visitors can lazily explore the place. This is a big place so it might really be worthwhile to take that train. Speaking of train, there is a funicular which can bring visitors to the very top of the mountain. I am not sure how much further the top of the mountain is but there is a lazy way to go there and that would be the funicular. We didn’t take it though for some reason. We were content to explore the buildings here. But it looks like we need to go for lunch first before we continue our wanderings.
