We were at the cable car station at the foot of Montserrat. There were a lot of people who were waiting for the cable car and I was wondering what was the hold up. I observed the cable way to the top of the mountain and saw that there seemed to be only two cars plying the entire route. I thought that was way too few considering the number of visitors this place gets. The cable car itself is not that big either. However, it is large enough to hold around thirty people at a time. I have always rode cable cars with modern cabins which are good for a maximum of six people. This was going to be an interesting experience.
There was a queue outside the station and we took thirty minutes to get in the main building and another thirty minutes to get to the waiting area. It is disappointing that they have so little cars but I guess having a continuous line of cable cars climbing up and down would be too expensive to maintain. Not to mention that it may ruin the landscape. When it was our turn, we tried to get to the edges of the cable car but there were other people in front of us, so we didn’t get the luxury of picking out spot. We ended up in arguably is the worst place in the cable car, the middle. It is too bad since the scenery was beautiful on the way to the top. Hopefully, we would get better spots on the trip down the mountain.
