My time in Madrid up and it was time for me to move on to another city. Admittedly, I didn’t spend too much time exploring Madrid itself but I think I would leave that for another visit. Now, I will be moving on to the Spanish city of Barcelona. The train from Madrid Atocha Renfe Railway Station serves the the Madrid to Barcelona route and I was already quite familiar with this station as I have used it in a trip to Toledo. It took a few photos outside the train and finally boarded. The train wasn’t full, probably because it was still early in the morning, this was good enough for me.
The train here is much like the trains I used when going to Toledo and Segovia. Somehow it feels a bit more first class. I was glad I purchased the tickets much earlier as last minute tickets would have cost me several times more what I paid for it. It dislike having to lock down my schedule whenever I go on trips, but in this case, I didn’t have any choice. The train to Barcelona will be going by a northeastern direction and it was already light outside. The Spanish countryside was still hazy that morning and I couldn’t get any decent photos. It is very pleasant to be traveling this way as it feels like a plane flying on the ground. The seats were very comfortable. There was food served on board, you need to pay for it though. I had a sandwich and coffee, nothing really special here. The trip would take around three hours, I will be meeting friends in Barcelona, hopefully they won’t be late.
