The next day was the day I leave Madrid. I didn’t really see much of Madrid apart from the park which was nearby the railway station. Most of my trips have been out of town trips to the historic towns of Toledo, Segovia and finally to El Escorial, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. I think all of those places were very much worth visiting and I don’t regret going to them. However, I don’t think I did the great city of Madrid any justice by not visiting its palaces and other monuments. I think that it is another post for another day. For now, I will be leaving Madrid for another city. I will be taking the train from the Atocha Renfe Railway Station.
It was fortunate that my hostel, the Way Hostel, was only a few metro stops away from the ATocha Renfe Railway Station. This time, I knew where to get off. The waiting area of the railway station wasn’t very big which came as a surprise to me. I thought that a station as major as the Atocha here is deserves a larger waiting area. Perhaps it is convenient and efficient enough to get here that people don’t have to spend long periods at the station. There were already people waiting at the station and it was still a few minutes to go before it was time for the train to leave. I didn’t see any interesting places to have breakfast though, maybe the train would have something to eat.
