Soon after I arrived back at the Madrid Chamartin Railway Station, I managed to find my way into another train headed in the general direction of Segovia. I was hoping I don’t need to come back Madrid to take the train but this was the fastest and the most convenient way for me. The trains here leave almost every hour which makes it convenient for passengers who just arrived. This line was the Cercanias, and it is a commuter line compared to the AVE which is more for long distance travel. After a few miscues in getting on the right train, I managed to head to my destination. I was seat next to a delightful English lady and I was glad to have someone to talk to. Apparently, she lives in the area where I was going to and gave me some pointers.
The train ride didn’t really take very long, after an hour, I was already at El Escorial. There will probably be a lot of people getting of here as it is a major destination in this line. Outside the train station, there is a bus which will bring you to the main site. I am glad that there is this service as it make things much easier for visitors. You would actually run past the site but everybody gets off a the terminal station, which seems to be part shopping center. I merely followed everyone else out of the bus station and head to the El Escorial, it seems everyone was going there as well, hope it won’t be that crowded.
